Now Showing

“The state of the world is surreal.  This work is a commentary on the state of the world."

— Lace Finch, Artist

The show begins with the title wall…

An intro of sorts with fake gold and foil smiles.

The title wall warns the viewer that the show has already started and you’re already paying the price.

If you look closely there is yet another clue, “the deeper you look, the more you see.”

In the beginning, The Man created the system and The People thought it was beautiful.

And Day 1 is the first day.

Day 1:

Status Quo

The Man sits upon His ivory-tower throne while The People, chained to the system, scream under the weight of carrying it.

The chains are just for show but the price really is your life.

You can’t let go but you can break the chains.

Day 2:

Progress

The Man plays games while the world burns.

He makes decisions to fulfill His goal.

His goal is to win at any cost.

The cost? Your grandchildren’s lives.

The first two days were easy but it gets trickier from here.

Can you see where this is going?

Day 3:

LOL

The Man maintains the illusion of His power by destroying those weaker than him.

He maintains His illusion of control thru lies, manipulation, and distraction.

“Never mind the lasers, here come the aliens!”

The first few days were expensive but that one cost double.

Day 4:

Fore!

Freedom begs for change and blesses those who offer it.

The Man plays his games.

He builds Himself vast playgrounds while gleefully stealing from the mouths of The People.

He sentances the poor to lives of struggle and starvation and calls it freedom of choice.

If you look beyond the facade you’ll find the truth, The Man seeks power for Himself and His own pleasure and cares not if The People starve.

You can choose to see or to look away.

Choose wisely for the cost of your indifference is your humanity.

Day 5:

I got $5 (kilo) on it!”

The Man gambles with more money than The People can conceive.

He doesn’t care if it costs an arm and a leg because it’s not He but The People that pay the price.

The People walk tight-ropes for survival while The Man rejoices at His windfall.

Time is running out, the end is coming near.

The People have a choice to make.

The Man’s choice is clear.

Day 6:

Power
-vs-
Control

The Man is in control but it’s The People who have the power.

Through word or deed, if The People stopped fighting eachother, They could use Their swords to cut Their strings.

“What strings?” you ask?

Under the right light, the hidden doest appear.

Don’t think literal strings, the mode is in the ether and the control is thru our consumption.

Eat it up as fast as you can!

Says The Man,

More! More! More!

Day 7:

Rest in Pieces

That’s it, this is the end.

It will still be two days before The Man realizes he can’t eat money.
